James Taylor debuts new album at Michigan Borders

James Taylor will perform songs from his new "Covers" album Oct. 2 at the Borders store on Liberty Street in downtown Ann Arbor, MI, according to a press release. The singer-songwriter will remain on hand after his performance to sign copies of the album, which features interpretations of songs from the '50s, '60s and '70s. Among the tunes on the new CD will be songs originally recorded by Buddy Holly, the Dixie Chicks, The Temptations, Leonard Cohen, George Jones and Eddie Cochran.

Taylor's performance also can be seen at Borders.com beginning Oct. 7 on "Borders Live at 01," the retail giant's broadband program.

In addition to the in-store performance, the webisode will include an exclusive interview with the singer during which he'll discuss his new CD, music in general, books and movies that inspire him.

In an effort to accommodate as many customers as possible, Taylor will not personalize his autograph. Also, no posed photographs may be taken during the signing and no memorabilia other than CDs will be signed, according to the release.
