Kanye West pushes release date forward

Kanye West has moved up the release date of his new album, "808s & Heartbreak," which will be released in November instead of on the original Dec. 16 street date. In a blog post on his website, West said, "I changed my album to November something cause I finished the album and I felt like it ... I want y'all to hear it as soon as possible."

The new release date puts an end to what may have been a repeat of last year's competition between West and 50 Cent, both of whom released their 2007 albums on the same day; 50's new release, "Before I Self Destruct," is due out Dec. 9.

West's new single, "Love Lockdown," debuted this week at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart--a career-best charting for the performer.
