Portland Jazz Festival saved by Alaska Airlines

The Portland Jazz Festival has found a new title sponsor, Alaska Airlines, allowing the event to go forward despite the September announcement that it was ceasing operations after a five-year run, according to a press release.

Alaska Airlines agreed to a multi-year title sponsorship of the jazz fest, providing the financial support needed to revive the event. The airline's sponsorship investment arrived on the heels of a commitment for community and operational support from a committee led by Portland City Commissioner Nick Fish, businessman Sho Dozono and Travel Portland.

The corporate and organizational support will allow the 6th Annual Alaska Airlines Portland Jazz Festival presented by The Oregonian A&E to take place Feb. 13-22, as previously scheduled.

In addition to corporate funding, the Portland Jazz Festival is supported by grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, Oregon Arts Commission, Western Arts Federation, Paul Allen Family Foundation and the Renaissance Foundation.
