What happens when you raise a child in a nurturing, creative and highly musical environment? Perhaps Nikka Costa .

With help from her dad, renowned music producer, Don Costa, Nikka learned to create music practically from the crib. Her first musical gig was at age 5, opening for Don Ho. Two years later, at age 7, she was performing for 300,000 flabbergasted Police fans in Chile.

Atypical of those who grow up in the public eye, Costa seems completely grounded. In 2001, when reflecting on her childhood and the beginnings of her music career she said, laughing; "It's the longest career in history! It was just one of those things that kind of happened. It wasn't really something that I was trying to do. As a kid, I wasn't chasing a career. It's very different when things happen on their own. You just go along for the ride."

Costa is currently touring the US in support of her upcoming album "Pebble to a Pearl," scheduled to hit stores on Oct. 14.

LiveDaily's Richard Tafoya attended her show in Los Angeles this weekend and took some photos of her performance.
