Veteran BBC disc jockey Phill Jupitus described Gogol Bordello as "a bit like The Clash and The Pogues having a fight... in Eastern Europe." Indeed the gypsy-punk band's cabaret/circus show is a virtual smorgasbord of the unexpected.

Although frontman Eugene Hutz comes across as something of a court jester, he seriously loves the roots of gypsy music, a fact made crystal clear in the moving Pavla Fleischer documentary about Hutz, "The Pied Piper of Hutzovina."

Gogol Bordello has toured furiously throughout 2008, playing solo shows and the festival circuit, but the group still has a few US solo dates left on its itinerary: Tonight (10/15) in Edmonton, Alberta; Dec. 27, 29 and 30 in New York City; and New Year's Eve in Philadelphia.

LiveDaily's Tim Mosenfelder caught Gogol Bordello's set at Coachella this spring and took photos of the band in action.
