Weekend Ticketing: Pearl Jam, McGraw-Hill, No Doubt, Barenaked Ladies, Matchbox Twenty, More

Summer tours are coming to an end and many fall tours are still being assembled, and as a result it’s a relatively slow time for major new ticket on-sales. Still, there are several noteworthy shows set to go on sale in the coming days.

Pearl Jam in Seattle, No Doubt in Hawaii, several Barenaked Ladies performances, some matchbox twenty shows, a pair of Hootie and the Blowfish dates and some Slipknot appearances are among the weekend’s on-sale highlights.

Next weekend, the ticketing outlook won’t be nearly as quiet. ‘N Sync recently teased on its official website that tickets for the monstrously popular boy group’s entire fall tour would hit the market on Sept. 16.

Tickets for Pearl Jam ’s Seattle homecoming are scheduled to go on sale at 9 a.m. on Saturday (9/9). Though concert promoters have confirmed only a Nov. 5 show, a second night may be added if the first sells out quickly. Supergrass will be among the openers, but unannounced guests are likely to grace the stage as well.

The show will benefit more than 10 charities and causes, including Seattle’s Spruce Street School, where guitarist Mike McCready's younger sister is a student and his father serves on the board of directors. Other beneficiaries will include Voters for Choice, Honor the Earth, the West Memphis Three Defense Fund, and several other groups.

The Tim McGraw -Faith Hill co-bill has been extended into mid-October, and tickets to five of the newly-confirmed shows--in Dallas, Houston, and Austin, Texas, Oklahoma City, and Greensboro, N.C.--go on the market on Saturday. Tickets for the Oklahoma City show will be sold through Ticket Source box offices in the Oklahoma City region.

No Doubt will follow a tour of Korea, Japan, Australia and New Zealand with a show at Andrews Amphitheater on the University of Hawaii campus in Honolulu. Tickets are scheduled to go on sale on Saturday through various outlets; information about purchasing tickets is available from Goldenvoice.

Barenaked Ladies on-sales are set for Saturday in several markets, including Columbus, Orlando, Portland, Denver, Salt Lake City and Atlanta. Ticketing for the Salt Lake show is being handled by Smith’s Tix outlets and online tickets for the show will be available through Bass Tickets; Ticketmaster is handling ticketing in the other markets.

At least three matchbox twenty on-sales are on the horizon. Tickets go on sale on Friday (9/8) for the tour's Madison, Wis., stop; Saturday on-sales are planned for the band’s appearance in Mankao, Minn, and Reno, Nev. Bass Tickets is handling the on-sales for the Reno show.

Hootie and the Blowfish have kept a low profile of late, but a re-emergence may loom on the horizon. A new album culled from the band's B-sides and movie soundtrack songs is due in stores on Oct. 24, and two live appearances have been confirmed. Tickets for both shows--which will take place in Myrtle Beach, S.C., and in Sea Bright, N.J.--are expected to go on sale on Saturday.

Vulgar and cartoonish Iowa rockers Slipknot open a tour of North America on Sept. 22. Tickets for the tour’s stops in Toledo and Dayton, Ohio are scheduled to go on sale on Saturday (9/9).
