Neil Young supports union by canceling concert

Neil Young has scrapped his planned concert in Los Angeles tonight (10/30) in order to avoid crossing a union picket line.

According to a press release, Young was advised that the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) union, Local 33, planned to picket his show at The Forum tonight. Young and his wife are honorary lifetime IATSE members.

"I am extremely disappointed to have to choose between satisfying my fans or backing my brothers and sisters of the IATSE," Young said in a prepared statement. "I will miss playing in Los Angeles and apologize to my fans for the inconvenience this has caused."

The show will be rescheduled for some time next year, and ticketholders who prefer to get a refund can do so at the point of purchase, according to organizers.

Young's tour is scheduled to resume Saturday (11/1) in Reno, NV.
