Due to Jimmy Page [ tickets ]’s continuing back problems, the guitarist and the Black Crowes have canceled the upcoming leg of their North American tour, as well as a planned European tour, according to the Crowes’ publicist.

Page has been ordered to rest for the next six weeks, after which physicians will reassess his condition before deciding if he should undergo back surgery. Tickets for the canceled shows will be refunded at the point of purchase.

The second leg of the Page-Crowes tour was canceled in mid-August, but the tour had been expected to resume with some rescheduled dates beginning on Sept. 15.

Page’s injury will also keep the guitar player and the Crowes from co-headlining with the Who at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Oct. 3, 4, 6 and 7. The concerts were to have ended the North American tours of the Crowes, Page and the Who. At press time, it wasn’t clear whether the Who would headline the Madison Square Garden appearances on their own, if the shows would be called off altogether, or if the shows would be rescheduled.

If Page recovers, it is possible that he and the Crowes will reschedule shows in New York and perform in Japan in December, according to the Crowes’ publicist.
