Arrest warrant issued for Mos Def

A Las Vegas court has issued an arrest warrant for Mos Def , who is facing robbery and malicious destruction of private property charges that stem from an alleged altercation with a photographer at an apparel convention in August, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Mos Def, whose real name is Dante Terrell Smith, allegedly told a credentialed photographer he couldn't take photos, then ripped the camera from the photographer's neck, smashed it to the ground and ran off with it, according to the arrest report.

The photographer, Volker Corell, was shooting for the "California Apparel News" during the Men's Apparel and Garment Industry Convention (MAGIC) at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Corell claims he suffered a cut to his left hand when the rapper took the camera.

Convention center security reportedly confronted Smith at the event and recovered the camera. A receipt for the damage to the camera was $178.
