The Flaming Lips will host New York's ATP Festival

The Flaming Lips will act as artist curator for the second annual East Coast All Tomorrow's Parties Festival, which has been moved from Labor Day weekend to Sept. 11-13, at Kutsher's Country Club in Monticello, NY, according to a press release. The band will host and perform the closing day of the event (9/13), which will feature "no-holds-barred programming both musically and otherwise," according to organizers.

Friday (9/11) will feature a comedy stage curated by David Cross, as well as "Don't Look Back" sets featuring Dirty Three performing the album "Ocean Songs," and Suicide performing their self-titled 1977 debut.

Saturday (9/12) will feature Animal Collective, Anti-Pop Consortium, Atlas Sound, Autolux, Black Dice and Panda Bear.

ATP, which was named after a song by The Velvet Underground, was founded in England as an alternative to larger, more corporate festivals like Reading or Glastonbury. Artists are asked to curate the festival by inviting their favorite performers to play. Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth reportedly described the event as "the ultimate mix tape."

The event is expected to expand to Australia next year. Information on all ATP events can be found at the organization's website.
