Report: Chili Pepper Anthony Kiedis battled kidney ailment
Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis spent much of the summer in and out of the hospital battling kidney disease, according to the New York Daily News.
Keidis reportedly was close to kidney failure and talks of an organ transplant were addressed. According to several unnamed sources cited in the Daily News, the idea of getting Kiedis on a transplant list opened up a whole new can of worms because people with histories of drug and alcohol abuse are less likely to receive the organs they need.
Kiedis' hospital visits were confirmed by several "insiders," however, two different representatives for the singer reportedly laughed off the reports when contacted--denying only that he was currently being treated for a kidney problem. They refused to confirm or deny that he made multiple hospital visits during the summer.
Kiedis, who has been in and out of rehab for years, is reportedly on the mend. He is working on an HBO series based on his unconventional childhood.
