Iron Maiden tour documentary to hit movie theaters

Iron Maiden 's feature-length documentary movie, "Iron Maiden: Flight 666," will make its theatrical debut April 21.

The film documents the first leg of the band's "Somewhere Back in Time World Tour," which launched Feb. 1, 2008, in India and wrapped March 16 in Toronto.

During the outing, the band circumnavigated the globe, playing 23 sold out shows in Asia, Australia, and North, Central and South America in 45 days, according to a press release.

The tour schedule was met with the help of a customized Boeing 757 airliner that carried the band, its crew and 12 tons of music and stage equipment on board.

Dubbed "Ed Force One," the 757 often was piloted by lead singer Bruce Dickinson.

The film features a behind-the-scenes view of Iron Maiden in the cockpit, on the plane, and on and off stage dealing with time zones, foreign countries, different cultures and the pressures of an intense performance schedule.

A list of movie theaters showing the film is expected to be available shortly. For additional information, teasers, trailers and news from the band's current tour, visit the official Iron Maiden website.
