Report: Springsteen plans "Darkness" reissue
Bruce Springsteen reportedly plans to release a remastered version of his 1978 album "Darkness on the Edge of Town" that is expected to be similar to the 2005 30th-anniversary boxed set treatment of "Born to Run." In addition to a remastered album, the "Born to Run" set featured a Grammy-winning documentary about its creation and a 1975 concert from London.
The preparation of the "Darkness" package involves "doing the kind of super-creative reconstruction and [documentation] of how it all came about and finding usable live footage from that point in time," Springsteen's manager, Jon Landau, said in a Billboard report. "That's a big one, and not that far from completion, and when we can find six weeks to sit down and finish it, I'm sure we will."
Springsteen, who is scheduled to perform during the upcoming Super Bowl XLIII halftime show, released a "Greatest Hits" collection Jan. 13 exclusively at Wal-Mart, and also is offering up a new studio set tomorrow (1/27), "Working on a Dream."
