Beastie Boys celebrate 'Paul's Boutique' anniversary

The Beastie Boys will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their 1989 release "Paul's Boutique" with a digitally re-mastered, visually expanded re-issue, according to a press release.

The re-release will be available in several formats, including a digital download that became available beginning yesterday (2/2) exclusively at the band's "Paul's Boutique" website. The download features 3D interactive digital artwork.

A deluxe digital download that includes five music videos, video commentary and the 3D interactive art will be available Feb. 10, the same day the album makes its physical debut.

Three versions of the release--the deluxe download version, the CD + digital download, and vinyl + download version--can be pre-ordered at the album's website individually or in a combo package with a limited edition T-shirt that features wrap-around album art.

Pre-orders also are being taken for a 20th anniversary commemorative pack that includes the digital deluxe version, CD, vinyl album, T-shirt and an 8-foot wide poster of the album art.

The "Paul's Boutique" reissue features no music that didn't appear on the original album, however, a track-by-track audio commentary by the band detailing the making of the record will be available with every configuration.

The band will be among the headliners for the recently announced 2009 Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival June 11-14 in Manchester, TN. Other confirmed acts include Bruce Springsteen, Phish, Nine Inch Nails, David Byrne, Wilco, Al Green, Snoop Dogg, Elvis Costello, Erykah Badu, Paul Oakenfold, Ben Harper, The Mars Volta, TV on the Radio, Merle Haggard, MGMT, Bon Iver, Animal Collective, Neko Case, Santogold, Raphel Saadiq, Todd Snider, and Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, among many others.
