Taj Mahal, Irma Thomas, others headed to Blues Hall of Fame

Taj Mahal, Irma Thomas, the late Son Seals and Rev. Gary Davis will join the ranks of the Blues Foundation's Blues Hall of Fame during a May ceremony set to take place in Memphis, TN.

In addition to the aforementioned inductees, club owner Clifford Antone, discographer Mike Leadbitter and author Bob Porter will be inducted in the non-performer category, according to a press release. Also slated for induction are the following singles and album tracks: "Boom Boom" by John Lee Hooker, "Caldonia" by Louis Jordan and "Sitting on Top of the World" by Mississippi Sheiks; as well as the albums "Amtrak Blues" by Alberta Hunter, "T-Bone Blues" by T-Bone Walker, and the two-disc, multi-artist compilation "Blues With Feeling (Newport Folk Festival Classics).

The May 6 ceremony will take place at the Memphis Marriott Downtown, the night before the 30th Blues Music Awards. Both Thomas--a.k.a. the Soul Queen of New Orleans--and Grammy Award-winner Taj Mahal will both be on hand for their induction, according to organizers.
