SXSW Performer: Black Lips (Atlanta, GA)

Atlanta's Black Lips have described themselves as both "flower punk" and "psychedelic guitar drones" and claim obscure '60s Peruvian guitar band Los Saicos as a major influence; others hear The Stooges, and maybe a little bit of Duane Eddy crossed with Link Wray. Whatever you want to call them, the group undeniably sounds like it crawled out of a dark, strange garage to get to where you are. Last month saw the release of the band's fifth studio album, "200 Million Thousand," on the Vice label. Catch them before they crawl away down another weird hole.

Performing Thursday, March 19 at 11:30 p.m. at Cedar Street Courtyard (208 W 4th St.) and Friday, March 20 (time to be announced) at Emo's Main Room (603 Red River St.)
