SXSW Performer: Blitzen Trapper (Portland, OR)

Portland, OR's Blitzen Trapper issued three self-released minor classics before catching a break and signing with heavyweight major Sub Pop for 2008's "Furr," which vaulted the folkie pop crew firmly into the public's view. An appearance on NBC's "Chuck" didn't hurt, nor did landing a big feature in Rolling Stone (along with the No. 13 spot in the magazine's year-end album rankings. Cultivated in the excessively fertile Portland folk-pop scene, "Furr" bursts forth with richness, tunefulness and assured songwriting savvy.

Performing Thursday, March 19 at midnight at Radio Room Patio (508 E 6th St.)
