U2 blitzes BBC, performs short rooftop set

U2 spent much of Friday (2/27) at London's BBC studio, talking up and playing music from the group's forthcoming album, "No Line On The Horizon."

The day-long media blitz--which included appearances on Radio 1's Jo Whiley show, Simon Mayo's talk show Radio 5 Live and Chris Evans' rush hour show on AC network Radio 2--concluded with a four-song performance on the rooftop of the British media outlet's office tower, according to the BBC website. The short set featured two new songs ("Magnificent," "Get On Your Boots") and two of the band's previous hits ("Vertigo," "Beautiful Day").

The Irish rockers recently announced the booking of an unprecedented five-night run as the musical guests on "The Late Show with David Letterman." That weeklong stretch will begin March 2, the night before their album drops, and run through March 6.

Many fans got a taste of their 12th studio album last week when the group streamed the work in its entirety on the band's MySpace page.
