To which genre English group Cradle of Filth [ tickets ] belongs has been a rich subject for debate in the black-metal community. Though they've been labeled as the sub-genre "extreme metal," it's a moot point to the band members themselves. In a 2006 interview published in the Q & A section of their old website, frontman Dani Filth stated "We'd rather be known as solely 'Cradle of Filth', I think, than be hampered by stupid genre barriers."
