Richard Ashcroft adds U.S. dates to current outing

Richard Ashcroft will follow up his current U.K. tour with a North American jaunt that is scheduled to kick off on Nov. 4 in Chicago, according to his publicist. The musician has 10 dates lined up at small venues throughout the U.S. and Canada.

The former Verve frontman is touring in support of "Alone With Everybody," his first solo effort. The album went straight to No. 1 on the U.K. album chart when it was released in June, and peaked at No. 127 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Ashcroft first entered the U.K. music scene in 1989 with the group the Verve, which is best known for the hits "Bittersweet Symphony," "Lucky Man" and "Drugs Don’t Work" taken from its 1997 album "Urban Hymns." The group disbanded in 1999, the year Ashcroft began his solo career.
