Coachella announces more acts in new digi-zine

The Chemical Brothers and The Orb are among five new acts added to the lineup for the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. French dance pioneer Etienne de Crecy and his massive "Cube" stage show, freak folker Devendra Banhart, and Seattle punks Murder City Devils round out the new additions, according to Coachella Digital, a new online magazine that debuted this month.

Coachella Digital was dreamed up a few months ago as a collaboration between promoter and festival founder Goldenvoice and music magazine Urb, according to The Press-Enterprise. The 40-page interactive digital magazine takes an up-close look at festival culture around the globe, including music profiles and reviews. Coachella-specific pieces include an article about festival rumors and how quickly they spread, a photo montage of images submitted by past Coachella attendees, and a multitude of interactive elements.

"No one's really going to do some of these articles about things we want to talk about at Coachella," Goldenvoice's Paul Tollett told PE.com. "What's cool is that we're going to be talking about other bands that aren't even on Coachella, just related things."

Tollett said there is no set plan for future issues of the magazine, but acknowledges that there is potential to incorporate some of the other Goldenvoice festivals into the digital-publication concept.

In addition to Coachella, Goldenvoice is involved in several major festivals, including the Mile High Music Festival in Denver, Bumbershoot in Seattle, All Points West Music & Arts Festival in New York City and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
