The Virgins line up fresh spring dates
Fresh from a recently completed winter headlining tour, indie-rockers The Virgins will return to the road later this spring to continue backing their debut album from last year.
The New Yorkers, who plan to launch a European trek later this month, will kick off their next North American outing May 11 in Denver, CO. Dates for the 15-city jaunt are below, while the group's overseas schedule can be found at The Virgins' MySpace page.
The band worked with the production team of Sam Hollander and Dave Katz (S*A*M and Sluggo) on its self-titled debut album, which features several songs that previously appeared on the group's "The Virgins '07" EP.
The lead single, "Private Affair," can be heard streaming at The Virgins' website, along with two other songs from the debut.
"It's a mixture of songs but they are all reflective of New York," frontman Donald Cumming told an interviewer from the UK version of MTV in January. "A lot of the songs were tested at parties so they are dance-y for a reason. It's reflections of living in [New York City] and celebrating things that are good."
The Virgins formed in 2006 after frontman Donald Cumming and guitarist Wade Oates met at a Ryan McGinley photoshoot. The pair joined with bassist Nick Zarin-Ackerman and drummer Erik Ratensperger and began playing downtown NYC parties before signing with Atlantic Records.
