O.A.R. rows into early summer
Alt-rockers O.A.R. will kick off another leg of tour dates this spring in support of the band's latest studio album, last summer's "All Sides."
The "This Town Tour"--named after the album's leadoff track--gets underway June 5 in Morrison, CO, and is currently set for 10 Midwestern cities in June. Before that outing gets underway, the band will finish up its current itinerary, which continues April 3 in Detroit. That leg of the band's tour, which is heavily slanted toward performances on college campuses, runs through early May. Dates are below.
Released last July, "All Sides" follows 2005's "Stories of a Stranger, and is the band's sixth studio album. The themes on the record were inspired by the group's recent trip to the Middle East, according to frontman Marc Roberge.
"I called the demos the 'All Sides' demos because they were really coming from all directions," Roberge told LiveDaily last year. "These songs were relationship songs, songs about just playing in a band and songs from all different aspects of our lives. When we went over to Iraq and Kuwait in September, we had almost finished writing for the record. Upon our return, we decided to write a song about our experience there called 'War Song.' It's not a song about war, our belief in war or our non-belief in war. It's about the warriors, the soldiers of all backgrounds.
"That really led to the title of the album, as well. Then, you got a song about straight-up experience of traveling the world. I think the title fits because the songs are coming from all directions. They're all consistent in some way."
