Busta Rhymes set to headline U.S.

Busta Rhymes --who was set to open a number of dates on the now-defunct Rage-Beasties tour--is setting out on a nine-date U.S. tour of his own, according to Elektra. The road trip begins with Thursday night’s (9/20) stop in Edinboro, Pa., and is currently scheduled to run until Oct. 28.

Rhymes--along with other acts such as Stone Temple Pilots and No Doubt--was tagged as a support act on the Beastie Boys-Rage Against the Machine co-headlining Rhyme & Reason 2000 tour, which was originally set to kick off on Aug. 2. That tour was postponed after Beastie Boys member Mike D. severely injured his shoulder, and has since been scrapped altogether.

“Anarchy,” Rhymes’ latest album, was released in June, and is the follow-up to his 1998 disc “E.L.E. Final World Front.” His latest effort features guest appearances by several artists, including Lenny Kravitz, DMX and Jay-Z.

In addition to his recording and touring efforts, Rhymes has also been keeping busy in both the film and fashion industries. The rapper had a role in this summer’s movie “Shaft,” and will also appear in the upcoming Sean Connery picture “Finding Forrester,” which is scheduled for release this Christmas.

Rhymes has also launched a new line of clothing called Bushi Designs, which features many of the flamboyant outfits he is known for wearing, according to his official website.
