50 Cent to play shows with Fall Out Boy
50 Cent will join forces with Fall Out Boy this spring, with the rapper joining the alt-rockers for five dates on their upcoming "Believers Never Die Part Deux" tour.
The first round of the unusual pairing will come April 14 in Denver, CO. Additional installments of the genre-crossing mash-up will follow in Dallas (4/17), Houston (4/18), Charlotte, NC (4/24) and Columbia, MD (4/25).
50 Cent also has a pair of dates on his own scheduled this spring: an April 4 slot at Bamboozle Left in Irvine, CA, and a May 5 show in Rochester, NY. Fall Out Boy kicks off its 32-city spring tour April 3 in Mesa, AZ. Dates are below.
"This will be a major moment in music history," 50 Cent told MTV News. "Joining forces with Fall Out Boy, one of the most dynamic rock bands in the industry, will be an exciting and historic event for rock and hip-hop."
"We've been fans of 50 since we heard 'Wanksta' in '8 Mile,'" Fall Out Boy bassist/vocalist Pete Wentz told the cable music channel's new service. "We've wanted to do something with him for awhile, and having him out on the tour is gonna take the show to a whole new level. It's exciting to bring two different genres together and give the fans a new experience."
In December, the rapper pushed back the release of his fourth major-label album, "Before I Self Destruct." The set, originally scheduled to drop Dec. 9, will now hit stores in June, according to the performer, following the release of Eminem's May "comeback" album, "Relapse." The new album will be followed by a second studio release later in the year, again following Eminem after Slim Shady drops his second studio set of 2009, "Relapse 2," if all goes according to plan.
"What they don't know ... the new announcement is that I'm dropping two albums," 50 Cent told MTV News earlier this month. "I've had an opportunity to record since I thought I was releasing an album in December. But the portion of my record that I recorded with Dr. Dre was incomplete, because there was no opportunity to mix it.
"The only song that was mixed that I worked on with Dr. Dre is 'I Get It In'--that one is out now," he added. "It's cool, but I need the rest of them to be mixed before I can present my project to the public."
Fall Out Boy's fifth studio album, "Folie a Deux," surfaced in December. The set, which is the follow-up to 2007's "Infinity on High," features guest appearances from a number of notable music figures, including several acts off the Decaydence Records roster, Lil Wayne, Pharrell, Debbie Harry and Elvis Costello.
