Hardworking singer/songwriter Corey Smith [ tickets ] has mapped a slate of headlining shows for spring and early summer, most of them in the eastern US.

The Athens, GA, native kicks off the outing relatively close to home with a March 26 show in Boone, NC. Smith has 14 dates lined up through May, with an additional batch coming in June. Details are below.

On the road, Smith continues to back "Hard-Headed Fool," his fourth full-length album. The set originally surfaced in the summer of 2007.

"It's about learning from my mistakes, growing up, and becoming an adult," Smith said in his bio of the semi-autobiographical title cut from the album. "Life's about making our own decisions and facing the consequences. Sure, we're all hardheaded. We've all done things that we knew we shouldn't have done, and it seems like there is always a price to pay. But we don’t have to wear the past around like a heavy coat.

"The album, I think, is largely about that. It's about being human. It's about dealing with ourselves and our mistakes and trying to turn them into something good."

The performer has relied on MySpace and other Internet tools to help grow his following, reportedly selling more than 385,000 downloads since May 2006. He is currently the No. 2 unsigned country artist on MySpace.
