For the third consecutive year, independent music retailers throughout the US will celebrate Record Store Day with exclusive products from a host of artists.

On April 18, musicians like Radiohead [ tickets ], Wilco [ tickets ], Bruce Springsteen [ tickets ], Leonard Cohen [ tickets ] and Jane's Addiction [ tickets ] will celebrate the existence of locally owned music stores by unveiling new merchandise only available at participating retailers, encouraging fans to support their neighborhood record shops.

Ben Harper, in a statement posted at RecordStoreDay.com, said, "Independent record stores are much more than the name suggests. They are an international community and platform where music has an outlet and an opportunity to grow over the long term, in a way that sincerely connects with community and culture."

Among the exclusive releases available April 18: a Wilco DVD, a new CD and limited-run 10" live-recorded vinyl from My Morning Jacket, and a slew of 7" vinyls from the likes of The Decemberists, Tom Waits, Lucinda Williams, Sonic Youth, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, among others.

The special Saturday coincides with Indio, CA's Coachella Festival, and Record Store Day will host the on-site music-merchandise tent for the three-day desert concert. Several Coachella performers plan to release exclusive products as well, including Jenny Lewis, The Black Keys and Mastadon, who will unveil "Crack The Skye" on 180-gram vinyl with an extra 7" single and lyric sheet.
