Andrea Bocelli brings 'Incanto' stateside
Andrea Bocelli will embark on a limited-engagement US tour this summer in support of last fall's "Incanto."
The small, six-city run kicks off in San Jose, CA, June 6 following a short South American trek, and hits major markets across the nation, wrapping up with a June 20 show in Philadelphia before heading back to Europe for several shows. Along the way, the Italian tenor will also perform at LA's Hollywood Bowl June 7 and New York City's Madison Square Garden June 18. Details are below.
The US jaunt will feature material from his most recent album, "Incanto," which hit shelves last November. The 14-track studio effort offers Bocelli's take on classic Italian love songs such as "Mamma," "Granada" and "Funiculi Funicula."
"These songs have been part of my life since I was a child," Bocelli said in a statement. "Pop singers as well as tenors have measured themselves against this repertoire."
In preparation for the tour, fans took part in a photo contest hosted by Shutterfly, uploading personal photos that captured the romance indicative of Bocelli's music. Winners have already been selected, including the grand prize: a trip to the New York City gig and dressy duds for the event from David's Bridal and Men's Warehouse.
Bocelli, who has sold more than 60 million albums worldwide, has shared the stage with an array of talent, including Christina Aguilera, Bono, Josh Groban and the late Luciano Pavarotti.
