Megan Joy flies into 'Idol' sunset

" American Idol " contestant Megan Joy, who received the least number of votes for her Tuesday (3/31) performance, has no regrets about telling judge Simon Cowell that she didn't care what he thought about her decision to sing Bob Marley's "Turn Your Lights Down."

Before giving her swan-song performance, which, under a new rule instituted this year, could have saved her from elimination, the tattooed single mother from Utah was told by Cowell, in response to her crack, "I'm not going to pretend that we're even going to contemplate saving you."

"No regrets ever," Joy said during a teleconference with reporters on Thursday (4/2). "I wouldn't take anything back. I was happy to go the way I did. ... I was just honest. I cared about the competition. ... I just didn't care that Simon didn't like my song. I just couldn't help but be honest."

After learning that she had been eliminated, Joy squawked like a bird and flapped her arms as she made her way to the sidelines.

"I love birds and bird noises and I just decided if I'm going out, I'm going out with a bang," Joy said. "I'm just going to be myself. I flew the whole time."
