Scott Weiland continues 'Happy' trip

Scott Weiland has unveiled a handful of spring dates sprinkled throughout the western half of the US behind his sophomore solo album, last fall's "Happy in Galoshes."

The nine-city jaunt kicks off May 12 in Tucson, AZ, stopping by theaters around the West Coast through a May 24 performance in Ventura, CA. The tour will also pass through Vancouver.. The full schedule is below.

The Stone Temple Pilots and ex-Velvet Revolver frontman's most recent solo effort, "Happy in Galoshes," spent five weeks on Billboard's Top Independent Albums chart after its November 2008 release, scoring a peak position at No. 5. The record is Weiland's second solo studio work; his first, "12 Bar Blues," hit shelves back in 1998.

The performer, whose battle with drug addiction has been media fodder for years, wrapped up a 20-date winter tour behind "Galoshes" in early February, right on the heels of a fall comeback tour with the reunited Stone Temple Pilots that took them through several states and parts of Mexico. STP originally disbanded in 2003 following an American tour behind their last album, 2001's "Shangri-La Dee Da."

VH1 recently announced plans to resurrect the "Behind the Music" program and named Weiland as one of the first two confirmed episodes, along with rapper Lil Wayne.
