Eddie Vedder sets up new solo outing
Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder , who last year mounted his first-ever solo tour, will hit the road alone again this summer.
Vedder has rolled out plans for an eight-city US run that kicks off June 8 in Albany, NY, and is scheduled to hit a half-dozen cities in the continental US before bouncing over to Hawaii, where the roadtrip will end in early July. Details are included below.
New Zealand singer/songwriter Liam Finn--son of Split Enz co-founder Neil Finn--will hold down the opening slot on Vedder's upcoming run.
On Friday (4/10), the Ten Club, Pearl Jam's official fan organization, will hold a ticket pre-sale for already-registered members. More information is posted at Pearl Jam's website.
Last year, Vedder mounted separate runs on the East and West Coasts. Stops on the upcoming trek are all set in cities that he didn't hit during either of those previous outings.
Vedder's inaugural solo trek last year followed his Golden Globe win for "Guaranteed," a cut off the soundtrack to the Sean Penn-directed film "Into the Wild." Penn hand-picked Vedder to create the soundtrack for the 2007 film. The album debuted at No. 11 on The Billboard 200 in September of that year, selling about 39,000 copies during its first week of release.
Last month, Vedder and his Pearl Jam bandmates issued an updated version of the group's breakthrough debut album, 1991's "Ten." The band is reportedly at work on a new studio set.
