Marilyn Manson prepares for Guns, God and Government tour
Marilyn Manson will set out on a 13-date U.S. tour next month that will precede the November release of his new album, according to his official website. The tour--dubbed the Guns, God and Government tour--is scheduled to kick off in Minneapolis on Oct. 27.
After opening in Minnesota, the tour will touch down in Milwaukee and St. Louis, with a Halloween performance set for Kansas City. November dates begin on Nov. 2 in Tulsa, Okla., and continue with stops in Houston, New Orleans, Charlotte, N.C., and Atlanta. Three dates in Manson’s home state of Florida are also lined up, with stops in Orlando, Tampa and Sunrise. The itinerary wraps up on Nov. 13 in Greensboro, the day before “Holy Wood” is scheduled to hit shelves.
The Union Underground and Godhead are slated as the openers on the upcoming jaunt. Godhead is the first act signed to Manson’s Posthuman Records imprint. The group’s first album is expected to be released in January, according to Posthuman Records’ official website. The site also states that Godhead will open for Manson through the end of this year, and that Union Underground will be replaced by Cold on the second leg of the tour.
“Holy Wood,” the follow-up to Manson’s 1998 release “Mechanical Animals,” is set for release on Nov. 14. “Disposable Teens” will be the first single from “Holy Wood” to hit radio. The group shot a video for the track last weekend in Los Angeles, according to MTV News.
In a videotaped address on his official website, Manson explains that “Holy Wood” is the third piece of an autobiographical trilogy comprising “Holy Wood,” “Mechanical Animals” and his 1996 breakthrough album “Antichrist Superstar.”
