Rob Halford's new band to headline the U.S.
Halford--fronted by namesake and former Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford--will set out on a short U.S. club tour next month, according to the groups publicist. The band is then scheduled to tour extensively in Europe and Japan through the end of the year, followed by an appearance at Brazils 2001 Rock in Rio festival in January.
The stateside tour--which consists of 11 dates--gets underway on Oct. 10 in Minnesota, and is set to run until an Oct. 24 stop in Philadelphia. The group is then scheduled to spend the rest of October and all of November on a run through Europe. In addition to its own European headlining dates, the band will open four shows for Iron Maiden in early November, according to Rob Halfords official website.
Following its European jaunt, Halford will tour Japan in December. The group is then set to kick of 2001 with a performance at the Rock in Rio festival, which is scheduled to take place in Brazil on Jan. 12-14 and Jan. 18-21, according to Halfords website. Halford is scheduled to perform on Jan. 19, along with Iron Maiden.
Halford spent the latter part of the summer touring the U.S. with Iron Maiden on a triple bill that also featured fellow rockers Queensryche.
Halfords first album Resurrection was released in August and, according to a number of reviews, is Rob Halfords return to the heavy-metal fare he became best known for while fronting Judas Priest. After parting ways with Priest in the mid-90s, Halford experimented first with thrash-metal in his band Fight, and then with a more industrial sound with his band Two. The latter act was signed to Trent Reznor's Nothing Records, and featured current Marilyn Manson guitarist John Lowery.
