Sunny Day Real Estate [ tickets ] will kick off a 28-date club tour on Tuesday night (9/26) with a performance in Santa Cruz, Calif., according to the band’s record label. The group is touring in support of its latest release “The Rising Tide.”

The Seattle-based trio will spend the end of September hitting several California venues, and will kick off a full October schedule with an Oct. 1 date in Las Vegas. The group is then set to canvas most of the U.S., wrapping up with a Nov. 2 stop in Lincoln, Neb.

“The Rising Tide,” released in June, is Sunny Day Real Estate’s fourth album, and is the group’s first for Time Bomb Recordings, with whom the band signed after parting ways with famous Northwest indie label Sup Pop.

The new disc is also the group’s second release since reforming in 1997. The members broke up in 1995 following the release of their sophomore album “LP2,” which was the follow-up to their 1994 debut “Diary.”

Missing from the group’s reunited lineup is original bassist Nate Mendell, who signed on with Dave Grohl’s Foo Fighters shortly after Sunny Day’s breakup. Guitarist-vocalist Dan Hoerner, drummer William Goldsmith and lead singer Jeremy Enigk did return to the fold, however, and released “How It Feels to Be Something On” in 1998.

In a recorded audio address posted on Sunny Day’s official website, Hoerner says that the band is planning to play “a lot more old stuff” on this leg of the tour, and that some new material he recently wrote may be featured as well.

The group has enlisted the help of bassist Nick Macri and keyboardist-guitarist Greg Suran for its current tour.
