Steely Dan ready for summer 'Party'
Steely Dan will spend a portion of the summer on the road, bringing the "Rent Party '09 Tour" to the East Coast.
The veteran jazz-rockers currently are scheduled kick off the jaunt June 9 in Durham, NC, followed by five stops throughout Florida before wrapping up Aug. 15 in Atlanta. Details are below.
This trek, though so far light, marks the fourth consecutive year that the band--helmed by co-founders Walter Becker and Donald Fagen--has hit the tour trail after several years of avoiding consistent roadwork. More dates for the summer run will be announced soon, as well as information about "some very exciting developments" that are in the works, according to the band's website.
Steely Dan's summer schedule continues with a European outing, which kicks off June 25 in Amsterdam and currently runs through mid-July.
The jazz-rock outfit, best known for a string '70s-era hits that include "Do It Again" and "Reelin' In The Years," released its most recent studio effort, "Everything Must Go," in 2003. That record followed their first studio album in 20 years, 2000's "Two Against Nature," which received double-platinum certification and won a Grammy Award for Album of the Year.
