Aerosmith plans return to Hawaii to settle up with fans
Aerosmith has agreed to perform on Maui to settle a lawsuit over a canceled show on the Hawaiian Island in 2007, according to published reports.
The class-action suit was filed on behalf of more than 8,000 ticket-holders who alleged the band canceled the Maui date in favor of playing more lucrative gigs on Oahu and in Chicago. At the time, the band's management said the show was canceled for logistical reasons.
The suit alleged that Maui fans, who reportedly had made the scheduled show one of the fastest selling concerts in island history, had spent between $500,000 and $3 million in travel and other related expenses.
One of the attorneys representing the concertgoers told the Maui News that everyone who bought a ticket to the original concert will receive a free ticket to the make-up date and will be reimbursed for out-of-pocket expenses such as airfare and lodging and for ticket holders who planned to travel to Maui from other islands to attend the show..
The new concert is expected to be rescheduled at Maui's War Memorial Stadium sometime in the fall.
