Briefly: Streisand, Green Day, Echo and the Bunnymen, Pantera
Green Day is to play a one-off U.K. date at London's Wembley Arena on Dec. 8 to support the release of its latest album "Warning."
AOL will webcast the last five minutes of Barbra Streisand 's Thursday (9/28) farewell concert at Madison Square Garden. Five minutes? So you log on and see five minutes of bowing and waving?
CNet reported that four U.S. congressmen have introduced legislation that "would give companies the right to copy CDs, store them online, and stream the songs individually to listeners who could prove they already owned a copy of the CD." Such a law might well have helped MP3.com in its legal trouble with major American record labels.
Echo and the Bunnymen will release their next album exclusively online through www.gimmemusic.co.uk in October. The group's "Avalanche" will be available on CD through mail-order or as MP3 downloads and is expected to cost about $9 (£6).
Britain's Charts Informations Network is to include online record sales in its tallies for the country's official charts for the first time beginning on Sunday (10/1).
