Aerosmith, ZZ Top put finishing touches on tour plans
Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Aerosmith and ZZ Top , who weeks ago revealed the initial plans for their co-headlining summer tour, have nailed down the remaining details for the run, which now includes a few newly announced engagements.
The veteran rockers have confirmed venues for all of their previously announced tour stops, and have also penciled in four new August performances in Canada. Details are included below.
The two groups will get things started on Aerosmith's home turf in the Boston area June 16, and stops are planned in about 30 cities through mid-September.
Before hitting the road with ZZ Top, Aerosmith will tackle a couple of mid-June headlining performances, and have also booked an Aug. 5 headlining set in Sturgis, SD, as part of the annual Bike Week festivities.
Though they won't be supporting a new album during the summer outing, Aerosmith still have some product to push, as the road trip is part of the group's promotional work behind its recently released video game, "Guitar Hero: Aerosmith."
In March, Aerosmith said its recording plans were on hold until after the summer tour wraps up; a new album is tentatively expected to surface later this year.
Frontman Steven Tyler, lead guitarist Joe Perry and drummer Joey Kramer will be featured on "Entertainment Tonight" on Wednesday (5/6), Saturday (5/9) and Sunday (5/10), according to the band's website.
ZZ Top will join up with Aerosmith after a month-long trek through Europe, including a headlining gig at England's Download Festival. The rock icons penned a deal with producer Rick Rubin last summer and are working on a new album, according to the band's website.
