Heaven and Hell support 'The Devil You Know'
Heaven and Hell will take to the road this summer for a well over a dozen major-market gigs throughout North America in support of the group's recent release, "The Devil You Know."
The quartet--made up of former Black Sabbath bandmates Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice--will begin the 15-city trek Aug. 7 in Vancouver and work its way from the West Coast to the East through an Aug. 28 show in Boston. The full schedule is below.
Prog-rock outfit Coheed and Cambria will take on opening duties for the tour, except for the Aug. 8 performance in Seattle, which experimental metal act Neurosis will handle.
Heaven and Hell, which is in the midst of a South American run that will be followed by a European leg, is touring behind the group's recent studio effort, "The Devil You Know," which surfaced in April. The album--the first under the band's new moniker--marks the musicians' first new material in 17 years. The quartet recorded the 10 tracks last winter at Rockfield Studios in Wales.
"The band had gotten too good to just walk away," Dio said on the group's website. "We wanted to show people that we were still capable of giving them new music that measured up to what we'd done in the past."
Heaven and Hell formed in 2006 following a reunion of the quartet to record new material for the Black Sabbath record "The Dio Years," spotlighting Black Sabbath's time fronted by Dio, who took over lead vocals after original frontman Ozzy Osbourne's departure. That album surfaced in 2007.
