Sunset Strip Fest scheduled, set to honor Ozzy Osbourne
West Hollywood's Sunset Strip Festival is a go for the second consecutive year and will honor rock icon Ozzy Osbourne for his impact on the entertainment industry.
Scheduled for Sept. 10-12, the event will feature live music at six legendary Sunset Strip venues: Cat Club, House of Blues, Key Club, The Roxy Theatre, Viper Room and Whisky A Go-Go.
The three-day festival will kick off with a tribute concert to Ozzy Osbourne. The former Black Sabbath frontman performed a five-night stand at Whisky A Go-Go during the group's first US tour in 1970.
On Saturday (9/12), a portion of the busy boulevard will be shut down for a street festival and outdoor stage.
"Sunset Strip Music Festival is a great opportunity for us to celebrate the Sunset Strip's rich musical history," West Hollywood Mayor Pro Tempore John Heilman said in a prepared statement. "It also allows us to recognize the clubs and artists, new and old, who make Sunset Boulevard an international destination."
This year's festival lineup is to be announced.
