Lauryn Hill Sets Summer Tour Dates
Lauryn Hill will continue her world tour through the summer with a new leg of US dates confirmed by Hill's record label on Friday (6/11). The 24-date US tour will launch in Long Island, NY on July 11th, and will support Hill's Grammy-winning solo debut, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
The tour also marks a partnership between Hill and Levi's, who will sponsor the tour and market a line of clothing designed by Hill. The clothing manufacturer is also sponsoring summer tours by the Goo Goo Dolls and Jamiroquai.
A portion of ticket proceeds from the tour will benefit Hill's Refugee Project charity, a learning and mentoring program geared to disadvantaged children.
Hill made an unannounced appearance at her former high school in Maplewood, NJ on Thursday (6/10) at a school assembly where she was inducted into the school's hall of fame, according to an Associated Press report. The singer performed a cappella versions of Doo Wop (That Thing) and Ex-Factor.
The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill currently holds the #37 position on the Billboard pop album chart after 40 weeks of release. The album won five Grammys earlier in the year, including Best New Artist and Album of the Year, and set a new record for wins by a female artist.
The next single from the album, Everything is Everything, is due for release on June 29th.
