Maximo Park returns to US behind new album
British indie-rockers Maximo Park will return to North America this fall for a 14-date tour behind their forthcoming third album, "Quicken the Heart."
The trek begins Sept. 6 with a gig at Seattle's Bumbershoot Festival, followed by a one-off Canadian performance Sept. 7 in Vancouver. The three-week run will hit clubs in major markets across the country before wrapping up Sept. 25 in Washington, DC. Details are shown below.
Maximo Park will precede the US outing with a European leg, including stints at Leeds Festival, Reading Festival and several other UK festivals.
The band recorded and produced "Quicken the Heart," which hits shelves May 12, in Los Angeles with Nick Launay (Nick Cave, Talking Heads).
"There is a real live feel to the drums and bass," lead singer Paul Singer explained in a press release. "Nothing is processed. This record was made to be played live."
Formed in 2001, Maximo Park released its studio debut, "A Certain Trigger," in 2005. The record earned a nomination for the Mercury Prize, the UK's best-album award sponsored by the British Association of Record Dealers and British Phonographic Industry. Other nominees included Coldplay ("X&Y"), Bloc Party ("Silent Alarm") and KT Tunstall ("Eye to the Telescope"). Antony and the Johnsons took home the award for their 2005 release, "I Am a Bird Now."
