Staind, Shinedown, others 'Stimulate' America
Staind , Shinedown , Chevelle and Halestorm will offer cash-strapped fans across the nation moderately priced rock shows this summer during the "Stimulate This!" tour.
The four-band trek, which gets underway July 1 in Peoria, IL, and runs through an Aug. 30 performance in Philadelphia, is currently slated to hit 24 cities, with more dates expected in the near future. The outing will make a point to stop by markets most affected by the economic downturn, including Detroit (7/4), Wallingford, CT (7/16) and Lubbock, TX (8/15). The full schedule is below.
The bands, which worked alongside concert promoters to ensure reasonable base ticket prices, will offer most tickets under $40 each, with some venues offering lawn seating for less than $10, according to a press release. Each tour stop will also have special promotions specific to that show, ranging from concessions discounts to reduced pricing at local retailers.
"Wall Street got its bailout; now it's time for rock fans to get theirs," Staind frontman Aaron Lewis said in a prepared statement. "This summer, we want to give our fans one night where they can forget about everything else and experience a great rock show."
In keeping with the giving spirit, Atlantic Records--the label for three of the four bands--will give away a pair of tickets to five fans in each market who explain via entries at the label's website why they deserve a free night of rock.
The summer trek supports recent releases for three of the four bands: Staind's "The Illusion of Progress," Shinedown's "The Sound of Madness" and Halestorm's self-titled debut. Chevelle will drop the its latest studio effort, "Letter From a Thief," later this summer.
