Rihanna [ tickets ] has canceled her May 28 concert in the United Arab Emirates, according to published reports. Event organizers reportedly were told it was not appropriate timing for the young singer to follow through with plans to perform in Dubai, the most populated city in the UAE.

The Dubai gig would have been her first major public performance since her high-profile "altercation" with Chris Brown, which resulted in him being charged with assault, according to E! News. The concert also was scheduled to be held the same day Brown is due in court to face the charges.
