Gillian Welch, Iron & Wine to headline inaugural No Depression Festival

No Depression will extend its roots-music influence from the Internet to the festival circuit for the first time this summer with the help of headliners Gillian Welch and Iron & Wine .

The one-day festival, set for July 11, will take place in Redmond, WA's Marymoor Park. The lineup will also feature Patterson Hood & the Screwtopians, Jesse Sykes & the Sweet Hereafter, Justin Townes Earle, Jessica Lea Mayfield, Zee Avi and a Seattle roots music all-star revue.

Tickets for the event are priced at $45 (before applicable fees) and go on sale Friday (5/15) at Ticketmaster's website. (Ticketmaster is LiveDaily's parent company.)

No Depression, which launched as a Seattle-based magazine in 1995 and closed the print edition last year, now covers roots music via its website. The coverage includes everything from alt-country and bluegrass to singer/songwriters and indie acts.

Headliner Gillian Welch will spend the summer touring the US festival circuit behind her most recent album, 2003's "Soul Journey," while Iron & Wine, the stage name of singer/songwriter Sam Beam, will pound the pavement behind "Around the Well," a double-disc set of rarities and B-sides that hits shelves May 19.
