New release pays homage to famous fathers

A new album featuring the offspring of musicians performing songs originally made famous by their fathers is scheduled to be released through Apple's iTunes store in time for Father's Day, according to a press release.

"A Song For My Father," scheduled to be released June 2, will feature 14 tracks by a variety of artists including Salvador Santana performing Carlos Santana's "Evil Ways;" Gunnar and Matthew Nelson performing Ricky Nelson's "Travelin' Man;" Jen Chapin doing Harry Chapin's "Cat's in the Cradle;" and Louise Goffin doing Carole King and Gerry Goffin's "Up on the Roof."

Others saluting their famous fathers on the album include Ben Taylor (son of James Taylor), A.J. Croce (son of Jim Croce), Ivan Neville (son of Aaron Neville), Chynna Phillips (daughter of the Mamas and the Papas founder John Phillips), and Carnie and Wendy Wilson (daughters of Beach Boy Brian Wilson).

Also on-board to offer-up contemporary interpretations of their father's music are Leonard Cohen's son Adam; Arlo Guthrie's daughter Sarah Lee Guthrie; Bob Marley's son Ky-mani; Gregg Allman's son Devon; and Robin Gibb's son Spencer.
