Following an in-progress European tour, Andrew Bird [ tickets ] has planned a modest late-spring/early summer US outing in support of his January release, "Noble Beast."

The current slate of dates begins with a June 8 performance in Columbia, MD, followed by a spot at Manchester, TN's Bonnaroo Music Festival. The 15-city trek will hit major markets on both coasts before finishing up at Chicago's Lollapalooza Festival The multi-instrumentalist will also perform at the Austin City Limits Festival in early October (10/2-4). The Chicago-based performer unveiled "Noble Beast," his fifth solo studio effort, in late January. The album peaked at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Independent Albums chart and sold more 25,000 copies its first week out, more than double what his previous record, "Armchair Apocrypha," did upon its 2007 debut.

The recording of "Noble Beast" marked a back-to-the-basics kind of thinking for Bird.

"It was recorded completely differently than I usually record," he explained in a 2008 interview with New York radio station WNEW. "There is a lot more finger style, acoustic guitar, delicate textures, more like [Bird's 2003 release] 'Weather Systems.' It's something very, very simple."

Bird is set to perform on the new "Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien" July 7.
