Kanye West pleads not guilty to paparazzi attack

Kayne West pleaded not guilty Friday (5/15) to charges he attacked a photographer and destroyed a camera during a September 2008 scuffle at Los Angeles International Airport, according to a People report.

West and his road manager, Don Crawley, were arrested eight months ago at LAX while attempting to catch a flight to Honolulu. Video of the incident reportedly shows both men wrestling a camera away from a photographer, with each smashing parts of it into the ground. Crawley also allegedly smashed a second photographer's camera.

Following the arrest, West wrote on his blog, "I'm cool with the paparazzi. This guy wasn't cool. I gotta work now … I'll rant later!"

Attorneys for both men, who were not present in the Los Angeles courtroom on Friday, pleaded not guilty on behalf of their clients to misdemeanor vandalism, battery and grand theft charges.

West and Crawley's next hearing is scheduled for July 15.

Two months after the Los Angeles incident, West reportedly was arrested in Newcastle, England, after a run-in with a British photographer. However, he soon was released and no charges were brought.
