Paul McCartney takes on Nova Scotia

Paul McCartney will perform his first ever concert in Halifax, Nova Scotia this July, in conjunction with the arrival of the area's Tall Ships Festival.

The former Beatle will appear at Halifax Commons July 11, a few days before the international gathering of tall ships sails into the port city July 16. Tickets for the event go on sale Friday (5/29) at Ticket Atlantic's website.

"The Canadian audiences are great and the timing of the event, with the arrival of the Tall Ships, means that it will be an exciting event for us all," McCartney said on his website. "We are looking forward to rocking in Halifax."

The show continues the Grammy winner's series of one-off performances over the last year that have taken place in Liverpool, UK; Kiev, Ukraine; Quebec, Ontario and New York City, among others.

McCartney, who made his first US festival appearance earlier this year at Indio, CA's Coachella Festival, released his most-recent album, "Memory Almost Full," in 2007. Last year, he and producer/musician Youth released "Electric Arguments," their latest collaboration as The Fireman.
