Beyonce reserves low cost tickets for fans
To "make her concerts affordable for all her fans," Beyonce has set aside 2,000 seats at $20 a pop for all but one of the shows on her coming North American trek, according to a press release from the singer's camp.
Tickets for the final 1,000 special-value seats at each venue will go on sale to the public Friday (5/29) through Ticketmaster. (LiveDaily is a Ticketmaster company.) The initial batch of $20 tickets was offered previously.
The remaining $20 tickets will be available for all shows on the 22-city outing--which kicks off June 21 in New York City--except for Beyonce's late-July/early-August four-night engagement in Las Vegas.
On the road, Beyonce will be showcasing material from her latest album, "I Am ... Sasha Fierce," as well as material from throughout her career, according to her website, in a high-tech production that includes the singer's all-female band.
The new album surfaced last November, quickly becoming Beyonce's third consecutive studio album to top The Billboard 200. The set, which has racked up worldwide sales of more than 3.5 million copies, according to her record label, is separated into two discs to reveal different sides of the superstar's personality: "I Am ..." showcases a group of intimate ballads, while "Sasha Fierce" represents Beyonce's sensual, aggressive, fun, glamorous, dance-oriented side.
"Sasha Fierce is my alter ego and now she has a last name," Beyonce explained in her bio. "I have someone else that takes over when it's time for me to work and when I'm on stage--this alter ego that I've created that kind of protects me and who I really am."
The album has spawned two chart-topping singles, "Single Ladies" and "Diva," along with a number of other radio-friendly tunes, including the forthcoming "Sweet Dreams," which is due to hit radio stations in early June.
Also in June, the singer will release a dual CD/DVD entitled "Above and Beyoncé (Video Collection & Dance Remixes)." The set, which is a Wal-Mart exclusive in the US, features seven music videos from "Sasha Fierce" as well as eight audio remixes on the CD portion of the package.
"I Am ... Sasha Fierce" follows 2006's mega-smash "B'Day," which won a Grammy for Best Contemporary R&B Album and has achieved triple-platinum status.
